Honoring Juneteenth Through Education and Reflection
Thursday, we honored Juneteenth by exploring its historical significance and learning about influential yet lesser-known African American figures from the past. One such figure was Claudette Colvin, a brave 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus, months before Rosa Parks made her iconic stand. We also took time to learn about the Juneteenth flag and the powerful symbolism behind its design.
